Rob Wild, Alex Murtagh and Sean Baker won this year's BCiB QLD Open

A power packed performance from Rob Wild, Alex Murtagh and Sean Baker has ensured the 2010 BCiB Queensland Open men’s triples crown will remain in the Sunshine State.

During this morning’s final against southern raiders Chris Green, Barrie Lester and Mark Jacobsen, the two-time reigning state champions added yet another title to their growing list as they clinically went about their business to secure a 13-1, 9-6 victory.

With Wild and Murtagh providing a perfect platform, Baker was at his scintillating best as the former Australian under-25 representative gave a crash course in world class driving.

Having dropped just the one set en route to the final, there would be no denying the Queenslanders, who barely put a foot wrong throughout the entire match.

According to Baker, a five-time state champion, this morning’s win has jumped straight to the top of his list.

“We’re a pretty tight knit (unit),” Baker said.

“We’re all good mates, we all love the game, and we clicked well.

“This is probably the pinnacle for us as a triples (combination). Obviously the state titles were very good, but to be on this sort of stage and playing against the caliber of Barrie, Greeny and Jayco it’s just and honour to be out there.

“It was also the first time on TV for me and I’ll never forget it.”

After dropping a single on the opening end of the match, the Queensland trio clicked into overdrive as they rattled off 15 straight shots over nine successive ends to place a vice like grip on the winners’ trophy.

While Jacobsen, fresh off his victory in yesterday’s pairs final, played some big shots to try and haul his team back into the contest, there would be no gold medal on this occasion as Wild, Murtagh and Baker were left to celebrate their victory.
